Enrollment Policy

Students must complete the ITB enrollment and agreement forms at the beginning of the course without delay. A student will not be considered to be in attendance until all enrollment formalities have been completed. Four passport size photographs are required for this purpose.

Attendance Policy

Students are expected to attend class punctually and regularly. Persistent late-comers and absentees might have their allowances deducted and/or might not be allowed to sit for examinations.

Permission to be absent from classes, whether for a short period, such as for a visit to the hospital, or a long one, such as for a pilgrimage to Mecca, must be sought in advance from the Registrar.

Withdrawal Policy

Students intending to withdraw from the Institute must first consult with the Head of Department. A withdrawal letter must then be sent to the Registrar.

The financial regulations laid down in the agreement form states that a student who withdraws from the Institute may be required to refund all allowances paid to him/her up to the date he/she leaves.

Academic Insufficiency

When a student fails in an examination or in any of its parts, or when he/she fails to gain a prescribed minimum number of course-units for examinations based on the course- unit system, he/she will not normally be permitted to repeat the units or the course except on the recommendation of the Examination and Assessment Committee. The Academic Board shall consider any such recommendation and decide whether or not the student be permitted to repeat the unit or course. If the academic progress of a student is deemed unsatisfactory at any stage of the course other than the above, the Head of Department shall report the matter to the Registrar for appropriate action.

Examinations

No student will be admitted to an examination unless he/she has complied with the course examination regulations.

Change of Address

Students are required to immediately notify the Registrar of any change of address.

Discipline

Members of staff are responsible for the maintenance of order among students under their charge. A breach of discipline may be referred to the Registrar, who will take action accordingly.

For serious indiscipline, the following penalties may be imposed:

1. Temporary deprivation of Institute facilities and privileges
2. restitution in money or in kind for damage to Institute property
3. suspension or expulsion from the Institute

Students are not allowed to conduct illegal meetings or form groups and/or societies which are illegal under Brunei law. Students wishing to conduct meetings or form clubs or associations must first seek permission from the Registrar.

Students are also expected to maintain good behaviour and discipline off ITB premises.

Dress Code

Students at the Institute are required to dress smartly at all times. Male and female students are encouraged to wear the "songkok" and "tudong", respectively. The wearing of fancy clothing, T-shirts, shorts, mini-skirts, jeans, army jackets and slippers will not be permitted on the Institute's premises.

The requirement of wearing safety boots and overalls for safety reasons is to be observed when appropriate.
